PriceTracker

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 13, 2026

PriceTracker helps you track prices, set price goals, and share deals with shoppers near you. This policy explains what data the app uses, where it goes, and the choices you have. The short version: your price history stays on your iPhone, we don't run ads or analytics, and we never sell or share your data for tracking.

Data that stays on your iPhone

The products you track, the prices you log, your price goals, your alerts, your display name, and your settings are stored only on your device. We can't see them. They are included in your normal iPhone backups, and you can export them as a CSV file or delete them at any time in Settings → Your data.

Data you share with the community

If you post a deal publicly, it is stored in PriceTracker's public database on Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) so other PriceTracker users near you can see it. A public post contains:

Likes, saves, and reports you make on posts are also stored there, so counts are accurate and each person counts once. These records are tied to an anonymous identifier that Apple's iCloud assigns to you for this app; we never receive your Apple ID, email address, or phone number. Deals you mark Private are not uploaded.

When you follow a product, a subscription is saved in iCloud so Apple can send you a notification when someone nearby posts a deal for it.

Location

If you choose "Use my approximate location", the app asks iOS for your approximate location once, converts it on your phone into the rough area described above, and discards the coordinates. You can enter a ZIP code or city instead and never grant location access.

Product lookups and store links

When you scan or type a barcode, the app sends only the barcode number to these open product catalogs to find the product's name: Open Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts, Open Pet Food Facts, Open Products Facts, and UPCitemdb. When you paste a store link, the app requests that one page directly from the store, once, to read the product's name and price, without cookies or any information about you. Those services see the request's IP address, as any website would.

Purchases

PriceTracker Plus subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. We receive confirmation that a subscription is active, but no payment details. Manage or cancel your subscription in your iPhone's Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.

Notifications

Goal and price-drop alerts are created on your phone. Deal alerts for products you follow are delivered by Apple's push notification service. You can turn any of them off in the app or in iOS Settings.

Moderation

Posts can be reported by other users. Posts reported by three or more people are hidden, and we review reports within 24 hours. We may remove content or accounts that break the community guidelines shown in the app.

Retention and deletion

Public posts stay visible for up to 14 days in the feed and remain stored until you delete them. You can delete a single post from its menu, or delete your whole community account in Settings → Community → Delete community account, which removes your handle, profile, posts, likes, saves, reports, and follows. Deleting the app removes all on-device data.

Children

PriceTracker is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data, or to object to how it's used. Most of this you can do directly in the app as described above. For anything else, contact us and we'll respond within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
